HR Specialist

The HR Specialist is a critical role responsible for managing all aspects of human resources operations, programs, benefits administration, and payroll for the company. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations while driving initiatives that support employee engagement, development, and retention in a fast-paced, renovation-focused environment.

Office Location: 511 Edgeley Blvd Unit #2, Vaughan, ON L4K 4H3.

Status: Full-Time,

On-Site Report to: Office of the CEO

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day HR functions, including recruitment, employee onboarding and offboarding

  • Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with legal requirements and company standards

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolution

  • Work with Finance to support the compensation process

HR Programs

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and management HR programs to support the company’s growth and employee engagement, including performance management, compensation, employee training and career development initiatives

  • Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with the Byng for Life values

  • Support development and execution of strategies to attract and retain top talent in the industry

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, paid time off, and other perks

  • Partner with benefits providers to ensure competitive offerings and manage annual renewals

  • Educate employees on benefits options and support them during enrollment and claim processes

Payroll Management

  • Oversee and manage payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate payment to all employees

  • Maintain compliance with payroll-related laws and regulations, including taxes, deductions, and reporting

  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to align payroll processes with financial operations

  • Manage the day-to-day relationship and transactions with the payroll services provider

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, including benefits administration and payroll management

  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

  • Working towards a CHRP certification or similar education preferred.

  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll, benefits and employee records

  • Strong ability to navigate employee relations issues, resolve conflict effectively and handle sensitive employee information with the utmost discretion

  • Ability to anticipates HR needs and implements solutions that align with Byng’s growth objectives
